Miners Rights

As the basic job of a miner involves prospecting from underground there are certain rules that need to be followed by miners in order to ensure their safety. However with these rules there are guidelines set in place by the companies as rights towards the miners. Some of these rights include:

  • Under the miners rights act of 2000 it states that all miners are able to request an inspection of the area they will be prospecting so they are sure that the area is safe. If they are dissatisfied with the inspection, they can request a second opinion.
  • In conjunction with the above mentioned safety act, if a team of miners are sent into an area in which they do not feel comfortable and an accident ensures then the families of the miners are entitled to the full extent of compensation available for negligence against there employees.
  • If injury, stress related illness or other mining afflictions are found within a team of miners. The miner at question is requested to fill out a medical enquiry form and be consulted by a doctor immediately so damage to their persons is not furthered
  • If the above statement is not followed then the miner is entitled to compensation to pay medical bills but also for the stress the ordeal has caused them.

There are many other rights as a miner that you are entitled to, these are the few that will be necessary in order to make a case as many mining related injuries happen because the above rights are not upheld. Because of this
